More sewing DYI projects

I have really enjoyed my summer break. I have kept myself busy doing projects around the house--call it nesting if you will.

I made accent pillows for our couch upstairs in the loft. (I hired someone else to recover it in the dark brown).

Before

Made curtains for our family room.

I got the material for the curtains at LA Freds in the fabric district. The fabric district is thrilling to go to. So many stores full of fabric and great deals. I also bought yards and yards of minky there to make baby silkys and such. The curtains are make of raw silk and I love them. I put black- out fabric behind to block out the sun but it also makes them fuller. Adam was kind enough to hang them for me.

Just look at all of that lovely fabric. I need to go back already.

Next up...the nursery. Only 6 weeks to go!

Quilt

I finished the quilt for our baby boy!

I loved making the quilt and picking out the fabric. I could spend many hours at fabric stores. I got these fabrics at Just Sew in Highland. I picked out the fabric a while back and it ended up matching the bedding perfectly.

This quilt pattern was fairly simple and quick to put together. I still need to wash it once to fray the edges.

It was my first time doing a binding on a quilt. My mother-in-law taught me how and it is so much simpler than I thought it was going to be.

I love this quilt and can't wait to wrap our little guy up in it.

Newport

We recently returned from a week long family vacation to Newport, California. It was nice to get away and just relax at the beach. We enjoyed great weather and LOTS of yummy food (probably too much).

We have the cutest nieces and nephews that kept us laughing during the vacation. Meal time was a full house. However, breakfasts were quieter as Adam and I walked to the Pier almost every (I am feeling the extra pounds now) morning to get delicious Sea Side donuts

We spent the whole day at Disneyland. Yes, I got a wheel chair and it was so worth it. I got chauffeured around all day and we got on rides quicker by going in through the exit line instead of waiting. At first I was a little shy about the whole "being wheeled around when I am capable of walking" but by the end of the day I was loving it.

(Adam in the wheelchair)

I also got to go on all the kiddy rides being 7 1/2 months pregnant. BTW: favorite kid rides are (in no particular order) Peter Pan, Toy Story, and Buzz Lighter.

Took Ava and Paisley on the Carousel

Being at the beach we spent a lot of time just relaxing and playing games.

Horseshoes, Bocci, and Volleyball

We love going to Newport and can't wait to go next year with our little boy.
