Cement

They poured the cement basement and garage floor. Next up...framing.

View of the mountains from our lot. I never tire of how amazing the mountains are.

Niece and Nephew

We went to Call's (nephew) first tackle football game on Saturday. He looks so tough in his pads and helmet. It was so fun to see these him play.

Paisley, (niece) shares the same birthday as Adam. We celebrated with Paisley and the Nelson family on Monday by having a family BBQ and opening presents.

My sister in law, Heather, made this cute cupcake cake. It tasted as good as it looked!

Adam and his Dad

Bradley

The Barlow's welcomed their sweet baby boy, Bradley, into their family on Thursday August 20th. We were so excited to see him at the hospital.

Congratulations Garrett and Leanne!

Happy 28th Birthday Adam

Happy Birthday Adam!
We celebrated Adam's birthday with my family. My mom made dinner and I made a banana cream pie.

Adam opening Presents

I love you Adam. You are the best husband and I love celebrating this day with you. You mean the world to me and I hope you have a wonderful birthday!

Foundation

The foundation on our house had been set. It is so exciting seeing the progression of our house being built.
(I should make a disclaimer now that there will be many house posts yet to come).

Adam has been helping out with building the house as much as he can. Keystone Builders, owned by Adam's brother, is who we hired to be our general contractor. We are excited to have them build our house.

putting in the underground plumbing.

Hopefully we will start the framing this week!

Back to School

It has begun. I taught my first day of school this week. Only 179 day left! I am looking forward to teaching this year but I am already missing the freedom of summer. During back to school night I had about 3 parents of my students come up to me and welcome me into their neighborhood. It is nice to know at least some of my neighbors already. Everyday I am discovering more students who live in our soon to be neighborhood and I get more and more excited about moving up there.

Movie in the Park

We went to Movies in the Park, at Rock Canyon Park, with our friends: Burke and Chelsea, Leanne and Garrett, and Kendal and Malorie.

The movie was Arsenic and Old Lace (in accordance with the classic mystery theme). I thought it was a great movie and found myself laughing a lot through the entire show, along with the rest of the girls. However, Adam and the guys easily found themselves trying to fall asleep. Figures. Either way, it was a lot of fun.

Palm Springs

We went to Palm Springs last weekend with some of our friends and this is what we did...

Went to the pool

The boys golf about 54 holes is two days. Here is one of Pj's winning score cards.

Taylor and Adam matched in their golf attire.

Ate out. How could we pass up the Cheesecake factory?

We went shopping at the Outlets and Alyssa found this cute beanie for Ada. She is the cutest baby. We all loved holding and making Ada smile as much as we could.

Went to see the "Time Travelers Wife" and we all really liked the movie. Go see it!

Then we passed the wind-mills on our way home.
This was a fun and relxing trip and a great way to end the summer as school officially started for me Monday morning.

Announcing

We are official land owners...soon to be home owners. After much thought and tons of looking, Adam and I decided to buy land and build our very own house. The lot is in Highland and we really like the neighborhood we are building in.

Being owners of dirt is a pretty big deal.
As you can see we already have a hole dug and the footings were being laid as the picture was taken. We are so excited to have our own house.

Fantasticks

Sundance Summer Theater is doing the production of the Fantasticks. We got together with some of our friends to enjoy the show.

We all (guys included) really liked the show so hurry and get your tickets. The outdoor theater makes you feel like you are really far up in the mountains--which I liked. The show runs until August 22nd. Make sure you bring blankets to keep you warm. It is Fantastic!

Winner

I was very pleased that Jeanene won SYTYCD season 5. She was in some of my favorite dances and I liked how "hard she hit it" in all her dances. I am also enjoyed her charisma. She deserved the victory.

Jeanine Mason is America's favorite dancer on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE

However, this dance was a winner to me. I was surprised none of the judges picked it as their favorite dance on the finale show (even though they picked good ones they missed this one). Wade really knows how to choreograph a good routine. I could watch this dance all day.

Lindon Pool--Take Two

Lindon Pool proved to be yet another great way to spend our Saturday. Adam, Garrett, and Burke rode the FloRider three straight hours while Leanne and I drifted our way through the lazy river.

After the pool the Barlows and us joined up with PJ and Sandra for a yummy dinner at Mama Chus followed by a fun game of Speed Uno.

By the evening most of us were feeling the sunburns because, although we knew better, we didn't put on sunscreen do to the overcast day. However, the overcast made the lines small (which the guys liked) and the pool empty (which the girls liked).

Adam is now convinced he wants a FloRider in our backyard.

BTW: Did you see my new header? Cute hu? I got it from the Tip Top Shop (link to it is on my side bar) which my friend created. Check it out--you'll love it!

Bathroom

For starters I should have done this a long time ago.
Now, 2 years later this is what I did...

Our guest bathroom was very unattractive. Monday morning I called our land-lord and asked if I could paint the bathroom. He said sure. So, I quickly bought primer, tape, paint, and started this project. By Tuesday afternoon is was complete!

BEFORE

Well, this is more during but you get the point. It is an ugly bathroom that also used to have lemon yellow walls and border wall paper that looked like this...

AFTER

The color of the walls is "Toasted Almond". I thought it was a nice neutral color for a condo.
Now I am not so embarrassed about guest using our guest bathroom.

Joseph

We saw Joseph and the Amazing Techni-color Dream Coat at the Scear Shell last night with some of our friends.

We brought in pizza and snacks and enjoyed the great music

The Scera Shell does a wonderful job of providing great evening time entertainment.
