Funny School Story

This story comes from my fellow teacher Shannon. Enjoy!

At school on Friday, my student teacher was teaching about Needs vs Wants.

She was asking the students what some of their needs are.

One girl sighed and said, "Oh, I need Taylor Lautner."

I said, "I'm pretty sure that's a want."

She said, "No...I want Zak Efron, but I need Taylor Lautner."

All-nighter

Yes, that is right. Us, and all of our friends had a sleepover. I can't remember the last time I stayed up this late. The evening was full of games, food, and laughter. Here is some of the story as to how this came about.

A few weeks back we got together with some of our friends over the weekend. After dinner we went back to the Larks house and started playing video games. We didn't end playing the games till midnight. Around eleven o'clock Taylor wishes that the night would never end and we could hang out all night long playing games. That sparked some ideas and a week later we organized an all-nighter at our house.

We have all aquired our own Camelbak water bottles--we are a little obsessed with them. If you have one you know why. If not, go get one you will love it.

The girls played Mario on the Wii till 4 am.

The boys played Football and Call of Duty on the PS3 till 6 am

We inflated three air mattresses for the girls to sleep on and the boys slept on the couches.

Chelsea joined us in the morning. Yes, we started playing again in the morning. And kept playing till 5 pm that evening.

It was a wonderful way to spend the weekend--but it took me a few days to recover ;-)
thanks for the picture Leanne and Alyssa--my camera is still dead.

24th Birthday

Today is my 24th Birthday! It was a wonderful day and I enjoyed turning 24 very much. Here is a quick recap of my fantastic day.
  • At work today all my students sang Happy Birthday to me, including my principal.
  • Adam and I went shopping at the Mall so I could buy myself some desired items of clothing and make-up.
  • Went to dinner with family at CPK (ordered the Pear and Gorgonzola pizza) my favorite.
  • Received wonderful gifts from family and friends including a new set of my favorite William-Sonoma bowls, two new books to read, and this beauty from my sweet husband.

I love birthdays, especially my own. Thanks to all you helped me celebrate and wished me a Happy Birthday. Adam, I love you. Thank you for making this day so special.

New Years

Adam and I got invited to the Webb's New Years Eve Party. It is a wonderful Fondue party with a spread of food that was amazing. It was fun to see the Webb's new home in Springville and their little boy Eli. It was great way to bring in 2010. Of course we watched the ball drop and then celebrated with festive confetti. I am very excited for 2010. It is going to be a great year.

Thanks Chels for the pictures. I didn't have my camera.

Doorbell Ditched

Last night around 6:30 pm Adam and I received our first doorbell ditch from the kids in our neighborhood. I knew it was coming as I had a student actually tip me off that he was known for doorbell ditching houses in the neighborhood. The conversation in class went something like this...

Student: "Mrs. Nelson, my friend and I are going to doorbell ditch you when you move in."
Me: "Wow. Thanks for letting me know it will be you."
Student: "You don't know that it will be me."
Me. " Yes, I will. You just told me." (8th graders and their common sense).
Student: "Is you husband that type that will chase after us and get really mad?"
Me. "I don't know. Now get back to cleaning your lab."

Thus, when the doorbell ditch came, I just smiled, didn't answer the door (because I knew who it was), and kept watching Private Practice. All in all, it was uneventful but I had to post it because the fact that I can even get doorbell ditch means we live in our new house--which I love.

Christmas

I didn't take one single picture during Christmas. There are a couple reasons why, I had the flew for FOUR days and felt terrible over Christmas. I threw up for 24 hours straight. No fun. Second, my camera was dead. Third, I didn't and still don't know where the charger is.

But know this, it was a wonderful Christmas. Adam spoiled me and I tried to spoil him but he knew what he was getting from me. If I ever remember to get pictures from my family I'll post them.

Our House

I know it has been a while since I posted--but we didn't have the internet till Monday evening.
However, I finally have some final pictures of our new house to share with you. We moved in on December 19th and have loved turning our house into our new home and getting to know our neighbors. There is still a lot to do but it is coming along.

Kitchen

Living Room

Bedroom (one of the three)

Master Bathroom

Before we moved in we had to tear off the plastic painted covers on our office doors. It took the four of us about one hour and it was a mess.

We are having fun furnishing the house and would love for you to come visit us soon.
