Quilt

I finished the quilt for our baby boy!

I loved making the quilt and picking out the fabric. I could spend many hours at fabric stores. I got these fabrics at Just Sew in Highland. I picked out the fabric a while back and it ended up matching the bedding perfectly.

This quilt pattern was fairly simple and quick to put together. I still need to wash it once to fray the edges.

It was my first time doing a binding on a quilt. My mother-in-law taught me how and it is so much simpler than I thought it was going to be.

I love this quilt and can't wait to wrap our little guy up in it.

Newport

We recently returned from a week long family vacation to Newport, California. It was nice to get away and just relax at the beach. We enjoyed great weather and LOTS of yummy food (probably too much).

We have the cutest nieces and nephews that kept us laughing during the vacation. Meal time was a full house. However, breakfasts were quieter as Adam and I walked to the Pier almost every (I am feeling the extra pounds now) morning to get delicious Sea Side donuts

We spent the whole day at Disneyland. Yes, I got a wheel chair and it was so worth it. I got chauffeured around all day and we got on rides quicker by going in through the exit line instead of waiting. At first I was a little shy about the whole "being wheeled around when I am capable of walking" but by the end of the day I was loving it.

I also got to go on all the kiddy rides being 7 1/2 months pregnant. BTW: favorite kid rides are (in no particular order) Peter Pan, Toy Story, and Buzz Lighter.

Took Ava and Paisley on the Carousel

Being at the beach we spent a lot of time just relaxing and playing games.

We love going to Newport and can't wait to go next year with our little boy.

Coming to an end

The school year is quickly coming to an end. Today is the traditional Year Book signing day. Tomorrow is an activity day, and Friday is the last day! How did May go by so quickly?

I only have 2 more days of being a teacher and I am 11 weeks from being a new mom. I try not to count down the days but it is all so exciting. I can't wait for summer.

I have LOVED teaching and it is bitter/sweet knowing that I won't be teaching next year. It has been a fulling, fun, hard at times, fast paced, learning and growing job experience. I have met some of the most wonderful people and worked at an amazing school. However, I know when this little boy comes I will be glad to just take care of him and not 200 other wonderful kids as well.

So here is to a fantastic 2009-2010 school year.

Pregnancy Progress

I am officially in my third trimester now! At the beginning of my pregnancy it felt like the third trimester was so far away. Somehow time passed by quicker than I expected and I am now on the final stretch. Yeah!

My belly seems to grow every week and it makes me happy because I know that it means our boy is also growing. My belly seems to be growing straight out and that is just fine with me as long as the rest of my body doesn't swell straight out with it. So far so good, but I know the end has many surprises--so I am not crossing my fingers. Here is my progress so far.

22 weeks/23 weeks

24 weeks/25 weeks

26 weeks/27 weeks

28 week (sorry it is blury)

I still absolutely love being pregnant. I know I have said it before but it is true. I suppose not being sick (a single day) has allowed me to truly enjoy this experience. Our sweet baby boy loves to kick and stretch and does so all the time. I constantly feel him in the same spots and I think I am starting to recognize some body parts when he moves--like his feet.

We still have A LOT to do to get the nursery and ourselves ready but we got bedding, I had my first shower (work), got the stroller and car seat, started looking at gliders, choose the paint color for the nursery, and picked out a crib just (need to order it). I also passed my glucose test which wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Summer is fast approaching and I can't wait!

Welcome Home Elder Harrison

My brother Andrew returned from his mission to Munich, Germany and Austria. He came home Friday night. It is so good to have him back. He seems the same in a lot of ways and yet older and mature in many other ways. It is so fun having our family together again.

It was an exciting homecoming yet very unique. You may have noticed that we are not at the airport as most families are when they welcome home a missionary. Here is a condensed story of why our family did not meet Andrew at the airport:

Andrew itinerary to come home said he would arrive at 8:50 pm on Friday May 14th. However, when Andrew got to the airport with three other missionaries who were also flying home to SLC airport he noticed his airplane ticket was two hours later than the others' tickets. He figured he had the wrong ticket and need to stay with a companion so he changed it ticket for the earlier flight assuming that was the flight he was supposed to be on.

Although I wise choice to fly home earlier and with other missionaries my family had no idea. So at 7:00 pm we get a phone call from Andrew at the airport telling us that he is home--2 hours earlier than we were excepting him.

We quickly start rallying the troops to head up to the airport when Andrew calls back a second time and tells us that he is getting a ride with another Elder who lives is Alpine. So, 45 minutes later we welcome home Andrew at our house. It was different, definitely unique, and special.

Glad to have you home Andrew!

Stroller

We bought Baby Nelson his stroller. I love it. As soon as Adam and I saw it we loved it. We got the Peg Prego Pliko P3 stroller in Java along with the matching car-seat. Now I won't have anymore dreams about having our baby and not being able to take him home from the hospital because we don't have a car-seat.

Adam putting the stroller together

It was our first real purchase for baby Nelson. I thought the stroller would be the hardest item to decide on but it turned out to be the simplest. Safety ratings are amazing and the stroller has all the functions I was looking for. I spent A LOT of time researching strollers and car-seats and I kept coming back to this one.

Here I am at 27 weeks.

Grandpa

My cute Grandpa passed away on April 28th. I recently returned from California to attend his funeral. It was so nice to be there with all of my family, especially my Grandma. I always remember the little things about my Grandpa like his jokes, how much he loved his dogs, his achieved goal of traveling to over 101 countries, and most of all how much he loved my Grandma. I will miss you Grandpa.
