The Night before Christmas

Christmas Eve Day started off very relaxing. We all slept late into the morning then enjoyed a brunch which consisted of whole wheat pancakes and some grapefruit. In the afternoon I did some cooking for the dinners that evening and then we got ready for the day--or more so the night.

Around 3:30 we went to the Nelsons for a lite family dinner and than drove to my family's for the rest of the evenings festivities.

Once we arrived at the Harrison's the annual rituals began! The table was full of platters with delicious foods and my dad had built a cozy fire that we all enjoyed watching as my dad read the Christmas story.

We made the traditional "Harrison Wassail" with which we toast with afterwards

Then the grandchildren opened up Christmas Pajamas from my mom and dad. But the pajamas didn't quite make it on the kiddos as planned due to the fact that both Crew and Eli would rather run around in their diapers than put pajamas on.

Around 10:30 Adam, Crew, and I headed home and put Crew to bed. Then Adam and I started playing Santa as we set up for Christmas morning.

It was a Christmas Eve like many in the past--full of the same traditions--just like we want it to. But coming home that night and setting up Christmas for Crew to enjoy the next morning was the start of a new tradition that we now look forward to with excitement.

Playing santa is so much fun! I'm sure it will only get more fun in the years to come.
