My youngest brother, Parker, got his mission call yesterday. We gathered at my parents house to watch him open it.
Elder Harrison,
You are hearby called to serve as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the
Argentina, Cordoba Mission

He is so excited. It was such a fun experience to watch my brothers (Parker is the youngest of 4 brothers) open their mission calls.
Funny story: In our family Parker is the "ham". He is always making us laugh. So, he decided he wanted to surprise everyone by not telling us he put his papers in. He succeeded. We had no idea. We got a text from him on Monday saying, "if the mail is on time then my mission call should come Wednesday." "What?" he shocked me. But it gets better. He only texted this to us siblings. My mom somehow figured it out, mom's tend to do that, and my dad still had no idea. So, Wednesday rolled around and the post office called around 8:00 am. (the American Fork Post Office recognizes the white envelopes and calls the family when the mission call arrives so that if the family wants to come get the envelop earlier then it would be delivered the family can go pick it up). My dad answered the phone. "Is this the Harrison's." "Yes, this is." "Your son's mission call arrived today." "What? You must have the wrong number. " My dad says to the nice Postal worker "No, it says here Parker Harrison." "Really?" Dad says in confusion. "Would you like to come pick up the letter?" the postal worker asked. "No, just deliver it"says my dad. (Why he didn't want to pick it up earlier I am not sure). So the mail was delivered and Parker opened his call. Turns out he is called to the exact mission my Dad served in so many years ago. Crazy hu? And my dad guessed he would go there.
Later that night my dad leaned over to my mom and said, "I bet the post office thinks I am a terrible father because what father doesn't know when his son turns in his mission papers?"
I think we will be laughing over this for a while. Congrats Parker. You are always making us laugh.
